Sika-Design is a Danish family business with the 3rd generation, Louise Andreas, in charge. The passion for rattan started back in 1942, when Ankjær Andreasen started producing baskets, lamps and flower tables in wicker and rattan. As the world’s second fastest growing material for furniture production, rattan is a very sustainable choice. Rattan regenerates in 5-7 years and unlike bamboo, rattan is not hollow which makes it an extremely durable and strong.
Sika-Design Icons Chill Lounge w/ Stool ND-20
The Chill lounge chair is designed in 1961 by Nanna Ditzel. It was the furst piece of furniture Nanna Ditzel designed after her husband died the same year.It was originally created in close collaboration with R. Wengler, who was a danish pioneer in creating innovating designs in the rattan material.
With our ICONS-collection we revitalize iconic pieces of furniture from some of Europe’s most skilled and important architects and designers. Arne Jacobsen, Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel, Viggo Boesen and Franco Albini were all pioneers of their time – They broke new ground when they made experimental shapes with the sturdy materials of rattan and wicker.
