Hamilton Louden Bruce decided to try his hand at furniture manufacturing in October 1943. Leasing a small building for fifteen dollars a month, he hired two helpers and started to manufacture canvas covered lawn chairs, producing only about 24 chairs a day. Mr. Bruce named the company Hammary, after himself, Hamilton (Ham) and his wife Mary (mary). In 1947, Mr. Bruce dropped the lawn chair line and began to manufacture a group of occasional tables, able to sell $200,000 in orders before even the first sample tables were made at the plant!

Rustic sawn pine and finished in a natural rich brown with dark bronze metal hardware. The inspiration came from straight forward design that is more about function than embellishments. Solid, sturdy, and practical are all words that define this collection. Metal 'L' brackets were used at the butt joints for added interest and authentic structural stability.
