Hamilton Louden Bruce decided to try his hand at furniture manufacturing in October 1943. Leasing a small building for fifteen dollars a month, he hired two helpers and started to manufacture canvas covered lawn chairs, producing only about 24 chairs a day. Mr. Bruce named the company Hammary, after himself, Hamilton (Ham) and his wife Mary (mary). In 1947, Mr. Bruce dropped the lawn chair line and began to manufacture a group of occasional tables, able to sell $200,000 in orders before even the first sample tables were made at the plant!

With a contemporary influence the Nyles collection has inset tops and recessed aprons along with heavy parson style legs for a casual transitional feel.
Nyles uses a cocoa wood finish on oak veneers and bronze hardware, but the main features are the extreme functionality throughout. With tray top, storage drawers, shelving, nesting tables and benches, even pull out and lift top features, this clean and classic design is sure to become a favorite.
