Memorial Day 2013
The culinary delights were exquisite, matched only by the splendor of the weather. Amidst the hustle from setting up to cleaning up after our backyard barbecue, there was ample opportunity to counterbalance the indulgence in hot dogs and hamburgers with some physical activity. Yet, amidst the bustle, there were also serene moments basking in the sunlight, cherishing quality time with family, evoking nostalgic memories of past visits to some of America’s revered memorial sites.

Should you find yourself in Washington D.C., a visit to the National Mall is a must. Its architectural marvels captivate the eye, from the iconic figure of Lincoln in contemplation to the awe-inspiring WWII Memorial adorned with pillars, fountains, and arches. The Mall also boasts an array of captivating museums, each a repository of our nation’s rich history and knowledge. Having visited multiple times before, I eagerly anticipate another summer excursion there.

Though our nation is relatively young, merely spanning a few centuries, its history runs deep. Early American-made furniture dating back to the mid-17th century serves as a testament to this legacy. Yet, despite our youthfulness on the world stage, there is an undeniable richness to the tapestry of our nation’s history and the valor of its heroes, a legacy we continue to celebrate and cherish.
